NuMetrex.com Offers Free Heart Rate Monitor Coaching

Online resource shares heart rate training tips, workouts & advice from top experts

WILMINGTON, DE (January 15, 2008) –– Applying heart rate to fitness training just got easier. NuMetrex, the company that developed a comfortable alternative to those hard plastic chest straps, is now offering a free online coaching resource to help people apply heart rate data to their fitness efforts.

Whether you’re training for a marathon, trying to lose weight, or simply looking to improve your fitness level, a heart rate monitor can be a valuable tool… if you know how to use it.

“There are typically two hurdles people face when it comes to using a heart rate monitor. The first is comfort, which we overcame with our line of fitness apparel that senses your heart rate through stretchy fabric electrodes that are knit directly into the garment,” said NuMetrex Marketing Director Meg Burich. “The second hurdle is understanding how to apply heart rate to your workout. It can be confusing and frustrating if you don’t know how to use the data.”

To overcome this challenge, NuMetrex has tapped two of the nation’s top heart rate training experts to provide tips, advice and sample workouts on a free, online resource called Coach’s Corner:

  • Dr. Alinda Perrine is a fitness authority, author, presenter and master trainer who has completed numerous marathons, endurance cycling races and a cross-country bicycle tour. She has trained other personal trainers at more than 400 fitness facilities and resorts nationwide, and recently trademarked her own method of sensible heart rate training, ZoneX™. She operates Free Spirit Adventures, a cycling shop and bike tour business based in Greenbriar County, West Virginia.
  • Dr. Ray Browning is a fitness expert, former professional triathlete and a Ph.D. Research Instructor at the Center for Human Nutrition at UC Denver. During his career as a triathlete, he captured seven Ironman titles and won the 1993 Winter Triathlon World Championships.

On the NuMetrex Coach’s Corner website, Browning and Perrine offer indepth articles on topics such as heart rate monitoring for weight loss; training based on rate, not pace; treadmill trekking; and interval training. A Q&A section called “Ask Alinda” invites readers to submit questions about heart rate training.

“If you don’t have a personal trainer, even if you are a personal trainer yourself, this is a wonderful opportunity to have a conversation with two of the top heart rate experts in the country,” Burich notes. “You can come here to get specific questions answered and find out how a heart rate monitor can help you achieve your fitness goals.”

About NuMetrex
The NuMetrex line of clothes that monitor the body provides a comfortable alternative to the cumbersome heart monitoring chest straps that tend to chafe, slip and loosen during workouts. NuMetrex garments — including the Heart Sensing Sports Bra, Cardio Shirt for Men, and Racer Tank — offer seamless comfort combined with superior monitoring performance. They sense heart rate through stretchy fabric electrodes that are knit directly into the fabric, and send that data to a compatible wrist watch or cardio machine via a tiny transmitter that is snapped into a pocket in the garment. Launched by Textronics Inc. in December 2005, the NuMetrex Heart Sensing Sports Bra was named 2006 Sports Product of the Year by the Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association.
